"A full-scale 1:1 Millennium Falcon has been built as well as the interiors of the ship for filming. The Falcon is done - inside and out. The sets were built off-site, ready to move when Lucasfilm/Bad Robot were ready to move into Pinewood."

According to THR, Lucasfilm has formed a new collective of Star Wars aficionados responsible for separating the wheat from the chaff. The new group is called the Lucasfilm Story Group, which include Leland Chee and Pablo Hidalgo. The LSG will sift through everything that falls under the Star Wars umbrella to come up with a conclusive set of stories and characters that is considered canon. [...more]

Jesse Plemons, who starred on both “Breaking Bad” and “Friday Night Lights,” is in contention for a lead role in “Star Wars: Episode VII,” multiple individuals with knowledge of the top-secret casting process have told TheWrap.

According to Latino Review, screenwriter Michael Arndt left Episode VII because he didn’t see eye to eye with director J.J. Abrams when it came to the film’s storyline. Apparently, Arndt wanted Episode VII to follow the Solo kids, while Abrams wanted to keep the story with the Skywalkers. Since Arndt left the project, his ideas went along with him, and Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan re-wrote the film’s script with the Skywalkers front and center. In fact, Latino Review guesses that Mark Hamill might have to spend six months shooting the new movie.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Will Shoot from Mid-May through September

It’s been a couple of days since our last Star Wars story, so it’s time for another update on the highly anticipated film. The firm production dates of Star Wars: Episode VII have been hard to nail down, but a spring start-date was necessary in order to keep the pic on track for its December 2015 release date. Indeed, HitFix has confirmed through multiple sources that director J.J. Abrams’ sequel will begin filming in mid-May and will shoot through September. Not a crazy short schedule, but not a particularly lengthy one either.

LucasFilm Expected To Sign Adam Driver As Lead Villain In Star Wars: Episode VII

It has been rumored for a while that Adam Driver (of 'Girls' fame) will be landing a role in J.J Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII, but now Variety are reporting that Driver has not just landed any old role, he's actually got the LEAD Villain!

"Sources tell Variety that while no deal is done yet, the 'Girls' actor is close to signing on to play the villain in J.J Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII," reads the report. "Exact details are unknown, but the character is said to be in the vein of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader."

Variety's source also suggests that the delay in Driver's announcement as the lead villain is mainly down to scheduling conflicts with his duties on HBO's popular 'Girls' show. It is thought that these scheduling issues extend way beyond the show's fourth season, which would suggest that Driver's villain is in this for the long haul.

If the new villain is going to be a Sith of the Darth Vader ilk, then Driver is a great choice to play him. At 6ft 3in tall, he has the height, but most importantly he has the charisma and ability to play such a key role. If this is to be the first casting announcement to come out of Star Wars: Episode VII, I will be a happy man.

It is expected that LucasFilm and Disney will confirm the appointment before the week is out.
